The Moon's Reflection of the Sun (Sonnet Poem)
Lovers’ names carved in a Greenville oak tree
First, a promise ring when he left.
Then, a proposal with his uncle’s ring
Finally, an official butterfly birthstone ring
Persian restaurant, sweet peach tea,
Honeymoon carriage ride, a love so true
Open mic trips, poems, and music
Attraction, Jillian’s Bar parties,’ dirty dances
No slip up to the lips, oily back massages
Chances taken.
June in the city
Flirtatious eyes meet her smile.
Trip to Korea canceled
Love in the wedding aisle
Prayers and hopeful conversations in length
Pushed through obstacles with strength.
