soggy, squishy, shiny sneakers
flippity, flappy flip-flops
slippery, squelchy, rainy boots
thunderous stormy nights
crowds remained present.
clicked change.
crisp bills
tickets exchanged.
boomed, be-bopped drums.
scratched, spun turntables.
musical melodies echoed.
ensemble of songbirds
free-styled, fresh beats
humble artist spoke.
“mind-boggled monologues”
told us about 1781.
about John Hansen being the first
African American President
and Baraka Obama
the eighth
passionate, eloquent speakers
clasped microphone hands
be-boy, be-girl headstands.
sultry bands rocked.
